In 1216, Jesus appeared to St Francis in a vision offering the Indulgence of the Pardon of Assisi that was approved by Pope Honorius III. This plenary indulgence ordinarily granted on August 2 and 15 to those honoring St. Mary of the Angels. This should inspire us to embrace the Gospel way of life, as did St. Francis.
CONDITIONS THIS PLENARY INDULGENCE
(for oneself or for a departed soul)
• Sacramental Confession to be in God’s grace
(during the eight days before or after);
• Participate in the Holy Mass and Communion.
• Visit to a Catholic Church and reaffirm one’s own Christian identity by PROFESSION OF FAITH.
• Reaffirm your dignity as child of God that one received in Baptism by saying the OUR FATHER.
• Reaffirm one’s membership in the Church, of which the Roman Pontiff is Christ’s representative, by praying for him and his intention.
Prayer to St. Mary of the Angels
O Mary,
You are beautiful and free from all stain of sin.
You are the glory of Jerusalem, the joy of Israel;
You are the honor of our people and advocate of sinners.
Oh, St. Mary of the Angels,
Virgin most prudent,
Mother most loving,
Pray for us.
Intercede for us with Jesus Christ our Lord.

The August Queen Prayer
Oh August Heavenly Queen, St. Mary of the Angels, from the beginning God gave you the power and the mission to crush Satan’s head. Humbly we beseech you to command the heavenly legions to pursue and fight all demons everywhere, crushing their blazon assaults and drive them back into the abyss.
Oh good and tender Mother, you are always our love and hope! Oh Divine Mother, may your holy Angels defend us from the cruel enemy and drive him far away. St. Michael, Who is like God? Holy Angels and Archangels, defend and guard us. Amen
Prayer to St. Mary of the Angels for Faith and Grace
Heavenly Father, you filled the heart
of St. Francis with a special love
for the Mother of Your Son, Jesus Christ,
and for the Portiuncula church in her honor.
In this holy place you nourished
his spiritual life and inspired him
to found the Franciscan Order.
Through the intercession of Our Lady
of the Angels may we be steadfast
in our faith and remain true to You.
