In 2008, Tom Vander Woude gave his life while rescuing Joseph, his son with special needs, after
he fell into a septic tank. Chris Vander Woude will share the remarkable story of his father,
whose virtuous life and heroic sacrifice continue to inspire Catholics around the world. The
Diocese of Arlington, Virginia is currently examining Tom’s life and virtues as part of the
Catholic Church’s process for considering candidates for sainthood.
